Navajo Technical University provides security services to the campus community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The Security Office strives to maintain a safe environment where students, staff and faculty can study, live and work. They patrol campus, respond to calls, and enforce all NTU policies, regulations, codes, Navajo Nation and Federal laws, and issue citations as necessary for parking violations. They work in partnership and collaborate with the Navajo Nation, County, State and Federal Law Enforcement Officers. NTU complies with federal reporting requirements under the Clery Act and produce an annual Clery Act Crime and Safety Report

Skyhawk Safety Alert
NTU uses a multi-faceted notification system for emergencies, weather alerts, and for campus community incidents and situations which may threaten the university's ability to conduct regular daily activity. The campus Safety office encourages all NTU personnel to sign up for the RAVE Alert system. Reporting Suspicious Activity
If you are a victim of a crime or witnessed suspicious activity, call NTU Security immediately with the following information:
- Who (how many) or what you saw?
- Why it is suspicious?
- Where (building) it occurred?
- When (time) you saw it?
Safety Tips
- Avoid walking alone at night. Make arrangements to walk in groups and in well-lit areas
- Take advantage of NTU's security escort service between 4pm and 7am by calling their number (505.340.7444)
- Walk purposefully, look confident and trust your instincts. Be aware of your surroundings and don't be distracted by cell phones, iPods or other electronics
- Lock all doors and close all windows when leaving your dorm or car, even if you're only going to be gone for a short time
- Remove anything from your car that may look valuable to a thief
- Have keys ready when you approach your car. Check the car for intruders before entering and lock your door immediately after getting into your car
- Never post private or compromising information to social networking sites
- Avoid situations where you could become the victim of sexual assault
